GUIDED TOUR KERKRADE CENTER

Did you know that the first developments surrounding the origins of Kerkrade took place as early as around the year 1000? Or that the suffix rade (red) refers to grubbing: the cutting down and cultivation of woody areas. And how did mining actually originate and come to its end? During this two-hour tour of the heart of Kerkrade, you'll learn all about the town's rich history and enormous transformation. From start to finish, an enthusiastic guide will take you on foot through all the developments of the past centuries. From the Middle Ages to the birth of the WMC and from World War II to the end of mining. The tour starts at the Discovery Museum, located at Kerkrade Station. During this walk you walk past (historical) locations that still play an important role for the city, such as the Lambertus Church, the Rodahal and the Stadspark. The tour ends at the Market Square. Here you will have the opportunity to finish on your own with a snack or drink at one of the many cafes and restaurants.
